Accessibility
Handoff is built by an accessibility tester who plays hands-free. Every release is tested with Voice Control on macOS and with the keyboard before it ships. If a game can't be played that way, it isn't done.
What has actually been tested
- macOS Voice Control in Safari, every control reachable by name.
- Keyboard only, including the macOS Accessibility Keyboard.
Not yet tested: Windows Voice Access, NVDA, JAWS, TalkBack. This list grows as the passes happen; it won't claim a pass that hasn't.
What we aim for
WCAG 2.2 Level AA across the site, and AAA where we can reach it: text contrast of 7:1 or better, 56-pixel touch targets, and no time limits (the clock only breaks ties).
How it works with your setup
- Keyboard: type a guess, press Enter. Tab reaches every control, and focus is always visible.
- Voice control: every button has a short visible name you can say: "Guess", "Reveal letter", "Share result", "Add player".
- Screen readers: each link in the chain is read as a word with its length and known letters. Right and wrong guesses, reveals, and results are announced.
- Low vision: the type is Atkinson Hyperlegible, made by the Braille Institute. Zoom to 400% without losing content. Light and dark themes follow your system.
- Motion: small animations are turned off when your system asks for reduced motion.
- Color: result colors are never the only signal. Every result is also stated in text.
